In France, judicial expert translator status is always granted for a language pair that includes French — never between two foreign languages. There is therefore, by design, no sworn English-German translator in France. French is not a convenience language chosen to simplify things: it is a mandatory legal step in any certification pathway between English and German.
For a certified English ↔ German translation, the only possible route is therefore a relay through French: two distinct, complementary certified translations, each signed by the expert competent for their own language pair.

This process involves two distinct services, each billed by the expert who carries it out. Both certified translations are generally completed in 2-3 business days in total, though this can be shorter or longer depending on the actual volume of text to translate.
