About David Ameisen

I have been a professional translator since 2001 and a sworn judicial expert at the Douai Court of Appeal, registered as an expert translator (English). I hold a PhD in Computer Science from Université Paris Diderot. I grew up partly in the United States — kindergarten in New Haven, Connecticut, then middle school in La Jolla, California — which is where my bilingualism took root, long before my professional life began. That early, total immersion in English-speaking life is what sets my translations apart: not just the work of a linguist, but of someone who has thought in both languages since childhood.

Sworn judicial expert

I am registered on the official list of judicial experts at the Douai Court of Appeal, in the Translation — English category. This registration is granted following a review of professional qualifications and a formal oath before the Court.

In practical terms, this means that my certified translations are accepted as official documents by all French public authorities: préfectures, consulates, courts, universities, social security bodies, and notarial offices. They are equally recognized across Europe and, for use in other countries, can be made fully admissible internationally through an apostille or via the standard legalization chain (Chamber of Commerce, Notarial Chamber, Consulate).

A certified translation carries my personal signature and official stamp, certifying that the translation is faithful and complete with respect to the original document submitted to me.

Technical expertise in the service of translation

My PhD in Computer Science and Biology, with a specialization in image analysis, data quality, and interoperability, is more than an academic title — it reflects a habit of precision and rigorous attention to terminology, developed through years of work in complex, regulated technical environments.

I regularly translate documents in fields where exact terminology is critical:
